A Must Read!

For years the bridal magazines, wedding planning books, and wedding focused television programs have explored every facet of wedding celebrations except for one…the FUN. Brides are being told to shop for “music” and then when their wedding reception arrives, they suddenly realize that what they really needed was talented and appropriate entertainment. For years I have designed my clients wedding entertainment around the style, and personalities that make them unique. Now everyone can have a secret weapon to create a fun and entertaining wedding reception. I would like to introduce “The Best Wedding Reception…Ever!” by Peter Merry.

This book is designed for anyone that is looking to create a fun and unique wedding reception. I loved the content in this book so much that I think it should be mandatory reading for all brides. You can order it from TheBestWeddingReceptionEver.com or amazon.com

Wedding MC DJ in Lexington, KY Andover Country Club

Need a DJ? Want to contact me? Click Here

The day started with a small equipment setup at the ceremony site overlooking the golf course of Andover Country Club. Ed and Tonya asked me to provide music for their ceremony and Tonya chose a lot of the classic music selections. It was in the 90s but fortunately the humidity was not too bad and their was a nice breeze blowing. The ceremony went off without a hitch and the timing was prefect. Afterwards I relocated to the clubhouse for the reception.

Ed and Tonya were a great couple to work with. They were very laid back and wanted to do low-key reception to accomadate their families. One side wasn’t the dancing type while the other was. This lead me to create an interesting playlist that was entertaining and enjoyable but wasn’t your typical party set. Later in the evening, many of the guests thanked me for the great time they had.

Keep Dancing!

A look inside the life of Lexington’s Wedding DJ Specialist

Welcome to the beginning of this blog. The idea for me to start blogging about my experiences as a Wedding DJ started during a conversation between my wife and I. The topic of conversation had turned towards the amount of reality shows on television these days and she commented that a reality show based on my work would be interesting. While there have been previous shows about weddings like Bridezillas and Rock the Reception, none really captured the work that a professional wedding entertainer does. So until Hollywood comes knocking on my door, here’s where you can find out what it’s like on the OTHER side of the dance floor.

Many people think a DJ only works the hours they’re contracted for, such as 4 hours for a “typical” wedding reception. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Most of the weddings I’m involved with require anywhere from 12 to 24 hours of “behind-the-scenes” work. Meetings with the bride-to-be, music research, venue scouting, equipment presentation, setup/teardown, etc. all add up.

Is it a lot of work? Yes.

But I LOVE what I do.

Nothing pleases me more than watching the bride and groom share their first dance as husband and wife as they stare into each others eyes. That’s what I want, not them looking around the room wondering if the cake is ready to cut or one of the other hundred of things that happen at weddings. I want that dance to be about THEM!

Keep Dancing!

Chris
